Creative Photography: Making Peace out of Darkness

My DIL was trying to take a photo of my peace sign earring - I was going to use it as part of Mimi's Peace posts. Of course it never occurred to us to take the earring off! As you can see it didn't quite come out although you can see my luxurious locks of hair and the beginning of an old lady's chin.

Never one to leave a bad shot alone I played with contrast and color and sharpened it to within an inch of its life. I like what came out. Very 60s funky.

Kind of a metaphor for life... I never would have believed that peace sign was there from the first photo... but peace is always there waiting in the darkness. Very cool.

pink - thanks!!

gattina - we were laughing about that! as I edited the original to finally be able to see something I told my DIL that's as close to diamond earrings as I'll ever get ;)

raven - you know I love me a metaphor
as I edited I was so fascinated with what was coming out
glad you like it :)

With the edits done to it... the peace sign has come alive with a touch of glow with it :)

Sorta like life, sometimes ya gotta (carefully) tweak the heck out of it to find peace.

My usual response to a "bad shot" is to see if I can save it in B&W. Sometimes the ones that look hopeless in color look amazing in monochrome!

I'm not sure how much it'll help here though. This is a pretty tight crop. You didn't leave a lot to work with.

mojo - I did redeem it to some extent in B&W - I used a tiny version of the B&W in the John Lennon collage I created for the Peace posts.
I couldn't stop there and I had to see what would happen to my hair and skin if I just kept pushing it. plus it made me feel like I was back in the old acid trip days - not that I would know anything about that!!
