Looking At The Sky On Friday: Sunset Over The Highway

Think Green Thursday and Window Views is just below this. They're both brand new - check them out.

I suck at night photos. My camera is not very sophisticated. My eyes hate the night, headlight glare makes them tear. I can't see the buttons on the camera without my glasses and I can't see the road properly with my glasses. You should see me drive while following directions, it's a laugh riot!

But I caught this scene and had to try. I loved the color and the trees. I even loved the damn wires hanging there.

So I give you my sunset. Taken a few Saturday nights ago out the window of my putt-putt car as me and my camera and my teary eyes headed north on Route 35 to "da pawkway" so we could visit the Motherland (Brooklyn).

The damn lines do add something to the photo and I must say you did quite a very good job considering all of the obstacles you went through to get this shot! I love the way the sky glows through the clouds.

I'm with you on night photography. It is very tricky. But this photo here looks good! Have a great day, Dianne :)

I love the continually changing color across the sky and moment by moment at sunset. Though I prefer not to see them sunrises are not the same. Also beautiful, but different. I don't understand why that should be. Perhaps in the Southern Hemisphere, or in the Tropics where the prevailing winds are in the opposite direction. ;)

It's a very beautiful sunset, and somehow, the wires add to it.

Bigger and better indeed! Very nice shot. This looks very similar to my view of the sunset across the road from my house!

Thanks so much for playing along.

Very beautiful Dianne!

Nice sunset photo, Dianne, considering all you had to go through to capture it.

I agree the wires are nice. They're gracefully sagging, not just horizontal.

Happy Friday ~

Night photos are challenging for sure and wires often difficult to avoid (as in my post at Small Reflections today), but those little cameras often take great shots even when we know little or nothing about photography. Lovely sunset view ;--)

Ah the Garden State Parkway - I remember it well on the way to the Jersey Shore as a kid...and the very closely spaced tolls!

That said, it looks as if the heavens are peeking through the dark skies here. Perhaps a metaphor that allows us to recognize the great things that will surely happen after we drift through the storm.

The wires do not detract!

Don't worry.

I agree with Linda - the damn lines add to the photo ;-) They create contrast to make the colors of the sky stand out more.

Great sunset. I've had a hard time capturing one too. You did a great job.

Very nice. I wound up getting progressive lenses so now I can drive and read if I have too... like those all important drive by shots (with the camera of course) or trying to read the map on my IPHONE!
