What do you get when you go to the Jersey shore right before Hurricane Irene arrives?

Flags being punished by the wind.

I was trying to see how dark the distant clouds were by hanging out of my car window upside down. I saw the flags instead.

Ruby Tuesday: Waving In The Wind

I took this shot months ago. I heard the flag before I saw it. I love that whipping sound that a flag makes in a strong wind.



And the sky was so beautiful.

Mary mentioned that today is flag day so it seemed a good time to share the shot.

I'm not much of a flag waver - especially since displaying the flag has been hijacked by crazies like the Tea Party.

But that's a story for another day on my other blog.
