I decided to shoot my red books where they are. I like candid shots.
I really recommend the Maureen Dowd book - 'Are Men Necessary'
I love Maureen
I got Dr. Spock's book when I was pregnant so it's 37 years old.
My little cat section.
And the answer to the book's title is - Yes.
These are the newest reads. I haven't finished any of them so they sit on the top shelf.
I love Jackie Collins, it's all so over the top and fun.
I saw the author of 'Tinsel' on 'The Daily Show'. Hank Stuever spent several Christmas seasons with a few families in Texas. He participated in all their preparations and celebrations in the hope of being able to clearly articulate what their holiday hopes and dreams were. He was such an impressive interview I bought the book.
And then there's Craig Ferguson. His auto-biography is real and funny and touching and outrageous - just like he is.

Your cat books look like a lot of fun. I would enjoy reading those with my daughter. We like animals (she LOVES them) and the men in the family (ahem) don't care much critters.
Hey Di! I shot mine just the way they were as well. My bookcase needs a little sister soon, it's so full I'm worrying it;s going to pop :o)
I like these shots, very whimsical.
Having a lot of books around can open our eyes about the fun of reading as well as prompting us to learn about new things. Your lovely granddaughter will see all the tomes on your shelf, and perhaps she will ask grandma what books she could read, and you will happily oblige. A love of learning starts with the written word...
I love the way that you did your Ruby Tuesday. And you can tell a lot about people from what's on their bookshelf. I've got that Maureen book, but never got around to reading it before it got packed up and put into storage. Someday. :)
Those are neat books, Dianne. And you did your homework. I missed the assignment somehow. Guess I was looking at pictures more than I was reading.
I have the 'Complet Works of Shakespeare' too. We got it at a bookstore at Stratford-upon-Avon where he was born and grew up.
Also I have the 'Complete Poems of Robert Burns' that we got at his birthplace. Guess that's it for 'works.'
Our Karen grew up on Doctor Spock (born 35 years ago) . We still have his book.
Happy RT!
..
Wonderful just where they are!
When I visited my daughter after Christmas my Shakespeare book was on the top of her bookcase. I almost brought it home.
Yes, I agree, cats do think! I think you have to be a cat lover to know that though.
I love Craig Ferguson so thanks for the tip about the book.
Nice collection of books.
Great Find Ruby
Great, and very eclectic, choices.
Cat books!! Of course!!
I also loved the post with Siren and Mia below! Too funny!
Craig Ferguson's book is on my "to do" list. I find him very funny and quite a bit sexy. Love that accent. The one time I might consider an audio book if he were the reader. Thank goodness for DVRs for he is beyond my bedtime.
Great choices.
Fun to know what you read. Wish I could join you. My eyes won't let me do much of that any more. But I did recently get through a good one - The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society - Shaffer and Barrows.
a very nice Ruby Tuesday, by the way.
I like that you photographed your books au naturel.
I agree that cats think. They think they are the greatest thing since the invention of the wheel!
I don't know who Craig Ferguson is. I'm out of it.
{I forgot the book assignment. Hanging head}
Love you taste in non-fiction ..
Great shots! Interesting books! Yes, cats do think!
Thanks for stopping by!
Cool book pics and of course, no self-respecting bookshelf would be without a CAT section.
Good idea! It's clever not to move them.
More titles to add to the list - it's growing very long.
Thanks for your visit.
I like the idea of not changing anything on your bookshelves before you took the photo.
Lots of interesting books.
I would go for Shakespeare and the cat section!
From Felisol
I love your bookshelf! I love to read too. I think my mom had that Spock book, but then that would make it (at least hers) 44 years old. Maybe she got when she was pregnant with my sister.
Love the cat books and Shakespeare!
Vicki
'Are Men Necessary'????
oh dear....
Well..the wifey thinks so 'cause I just asked her.
I think I'm cheaper than an Ever Ready...;-)
I LOVE the title of the Maureen Dowd book. Bwahaha! I wonder if it would hurt my husband's feelings if he saw me reading it. I might have to sneak into the house in a brown bag.
Of course cats think! LOL It's some people I worry about.
Nice collection, and I agree, cats definitely think!
Thanks for the visit!
I don't know Maureen Dowd, probably the book wasn't translated into french and english books are difficult to get ! But I would like to read it, because I think that men are sometimes useful but not necessary, lol !
Beautiful candid shots. You have nice collection of books. Love to read that M Dowd.
Thanks for sharing..
Interesting books and photos, great shots for Ruby Tuesday.
A shelf of red books,
one’s lacking I see: Chairman
Mao’s little red one!
:-)
I loved looking through your books, Dianne! I read Maureen Dowd's book (I think we discussed it already?) and wasn't Craig's memoir wonderful? Speaking of books, he bought the movie rights to a book titled "Ghosts of Belfast," and plans on producing the film. He said the book is dark and difficult but amazing.
Cool photos of your "red" books.
