The Magic of Trees

I adore trees. There is something timeless and strong and spiritual about them.

I have always been fascinated by bare tree limbs. They are like the hands of an old wise being, reaching out to express all they know.

SHADOW SHOTS

The leafless tree shadows are so cool - minus the foliage, they have the feeling of life. As if they are waving at you, beckoning you toward them. The days are armer with the leaves, yet these shadows here have a great personality!

Terrific shadow shots for the day, Dianne! Still looks cold, but somehow the trees look hopeful! And I hope they know something we don't -- like when is the sun going to come to stay for a while!!!! Have a wonderful weekend! Hugs to Hope!

Bare tree limbs are very graceful and make neat shadows! I like the way the shadows cover the door and the walls beyond.

Looks like a neat structure too with lots of windows.

My dorm building boarders the American University campus, and my room is on the very end overlooking the athletic fields. They have a lovely boarder of trees in-between, trees over 100 ft tall. Due to disease and the last snowstorm that started off as an ice storm a lot of the trees had 30 ft limbs rip off. As a part of clean up this week, they've cut down over seven of the trees. It broke my heart. (And I've now lost a filter of leaves that decreased the noise level from the athletic fields. lol) I just hope that the thinning of the trees make the remaining ones that much stronger and healthier.

Those are fantsatic shadow shots. I have a reverence for trees too. One Elder told me that since they grow in the soil that is made from the blood, hair, skin and bones of our ancestors, that the spirits of these ancestors is in every tree. Much wisdom can be found in trees. I liken the branches, especially in the shadow shot you display here, as the arteries of our hearts. Some small and narrow, others large and wide open. Great stuff!

peace.

Cool shadow. For some reason, it reminds me of a drawing of the central nervous system.

Yup, I'm a hopeless tree hugger, I too adore them...just look at all that snow. Ours is gone for now, but still a bunch of winter to go here in Iowa...we couldn't be so lucky!
