I was on a 2 lane state route headed home one afternoon last week when the skies darkened and the clouds burst open.
It had been unbearably hot all day and I expected thunderstorms but this was epic. The dark was like midnight in the forest and the raindrops were huge, bordering on hail. I wanted to change lanes to get away from the blinding light of the truck behind (and too close) me but it was impossible to see.
At a red light I took advantage of the still moment to try and be artsy.

You made the most of a bad situation and got some great pics.
Here, on the other side of the country, we are beginning to want a few stormy days but not the kind some other areas have had.
glad you made it safely through the rain. I LOVE raindrop photos and never get enough of them. yours are superb. have a great weekend Dianne.

The second one is my favourite : it look so much lile glitters ! So pretty...
In a somewhat harrowing situation you mananged to get some great shots.
A true photographer!
Fabulous capture -well done!
I hate being tail-gated, too!
Neat shots, love the play between light and dark.
You succeeded in your artsy endeavor!
I was excited to see these shots, Dianne! They're very similar to ones I took in the car wash a while ago...I'll send you the link by email. You might enjoy checking them out...:)
Wonderful capture of a scary moment - I'm sure you were pleased to arrive home safely!
Dianne, these shots are BEYOND brilliant!
Three VERY loud cheers!
OMG...they're freakin' AMAZING!!!!
I am sooooooooooooo impressed how you got these!!!
And yes, I remember that storm last week because we got hit with it here in Philly too.
Have a great weekend, dear lady!
X ya!
Yup, we got that same storm in Bucks County, epic is the perfect description. We got ~3" of rain in a very short period. I like how you zoomed in the second shot, that's really intricate.
Must have been quiet scary, but still you had the reflex to take these beautiful pictures !
Wow, that's incredible shots. Well done.
Proving once again you always need to have your camera at hand
Your quiet moment definitely worked. I'd probably have been shaking too hard at that point to focus the camera. Nice job.
Scary! I'm glad you made it home safely. But the photos are wonderfully artsy!!
Sounds like a terrible storm that I drove trough in Missouri on the way to California. Very Scary! You did get some really cool artsy reflections though!
