Where The Hell Are All These People?

I've shopped at ...

for about 9 years now and every time I passed the business listing I would wonder where all these businesses were ...

I had never seen the lawyer or the accountant or the cigar shop. The center is small. How could I have missed all these places?

Turns out that in 9 years I had never noticed that there was a second floor.

This discovery led me to finally find out why the center is called Airport Plaza since the nearest airport is in Newark, nearly 30 miles away.

I learned there was an airport on the site in the late 1940s which mysteriously closed in the mid 1950s. You can see some interesting aerial shots of how the area looked then and what is looks like now  HERE

HA! Oh, how funny!

I remember living in Japan and trying to find a particular restaurant and having the hardest time locating it on the street. Come to find out, the restaurant was on the FIFTH floor of a building! Because Japan is so small and limited to building stores and restaurants next to one another, they have to build them ON TOP of one another!

Great shot, Dianne! The colors are faaaaaabulous!

Bwahahahaha!!! Oh man, I could so see me do that right at this minute. I'm getting over a cold and put in a very full day at work and am at the end of my rope. Don't think I'll be staying up for Craigsy tonight though Ewan was well worth it last night. ;)

I don't know what to say about you not noticing the second floor but it made for a funny post.

Don't forget to look up!

A plaza with a unknown history and plenty of signs out front. When you got to the second floor did you happen to notice if there was a third floor:-) Don't worry. Lots of people walk by something every day and not notice. It's human nature.

I recently bought a 'postcard history' book on my town and it's amazing what businesses used to exist and how some things came to be named. So how did they manage to hide the second floor?

LOL! I've actually done this too. I'm usually thinking about 3-4 things at once, must focus on "be here now" more. Thanks for the A.M. chuckle to start my day!

I so love it when the light finally gets turned on in my head! I know thee feeling of passing by something many times and not "getting it."

those multi-sign boards are totally confusing and jumbly to me too (but I don't know if that's enough to keep you from noticing the seconf floor ;>)! From the look of the signs, you didn't miss too much tho. (Course i'm not much of a shopper, so what do I know).
