Magical Max

The only thing I know for sure about Max is that everyone loves him. There are many stories, bordering on folklore really, about Max. I'm assuming that the folks at Max's Bait and Tackle are Max's foster parents; the sign sits outside their shop and well, there's the name.

Some say he was injured near the launch ramp and nursed back to health by local fishermen. Some say he just appeared one day and captured everyone's heart. One older local smiles and tells me Max is magical; I fall in love with his craggy smile and twinkling eyes.

Max resides in a part of the marina that I don't visit. You need to walk down a steep hill and navigate some rocks to find this little spot of calm.

I hope to meet him one day.

Poor Max must be lonely!
Swans are lovely creatures (though I know many people think they nasty)

We have a pelican over by the Marina that has the same story...although he is not mute...but he absolutely loves people. We visit when it is time to get bait for our fishing trips.

we have swans in our marina, too - I hope you get to meet him and that he gets to meet a new mate.

I can't imagine a "nice" swan...most are quite obnoxious and have been known to chase me with full intent to harm by biting!

But I shall take your word for it.

Why is Max in danger of becoming endangered? Do some folks want him for dinner or to find him another home?
