On The Avenue

On a recent trip to Brooklyn I took 4th Avenue down to Park Slope and then 5th Avenue back to the Verrazano Bridge.

Both avenues take you through Bay Ridge and Sunset Park, down to Park Slope and on to Downtown Brooklyn and the court district.

4th Avenue is a busy 6 lane thoroughfare; 2 lanes in each direction and 1 parking lane on each side.
5th Avenue is one lane is each direction and is a huge shopping area.

and then I had to wait to go home to NJ

I am so glad to see these because it is the only way I am ever going to see them. Much to much traffic for me. But then you are much younger than me.. Hugz..

Ooh...up until the last photo I was thinking "we really need to go visit a real CITY." I still want to though, even though the traffic jam does not look fun.

Dianne, what a stunning array of photos!

The murals are incredible. Such COLOR!

And the photos of the church, both inside and out are so beautiful!

Love the sky in all these shots. WOW!

The one of the furniture store looks almost as if it's a vintage shot because you really get a feel for Brooklyn in the past.

Well done, dear lady. WELL done!

X to you, Hope, Athena, Siren, and Isadora!

P.S. God, I miss NY!

A lyric has been going through my head since I saw your title. :)

"We would sail up the Avenue, but we haven't got a yacht We would drive up the Avenue, but the horse we had was shot We would ride on a trolley car but we haven't got the fare So we'll walk up the Avenue Yes, we'll walk up the Avenue Yes, we'll walk up the Avenue till we're there."

Nice pixs all you have mentioned. Looks like what it is going over Burlington Bridge on the way to St. Catherins.

A nightmare.

I like your takes. All excellent.

I loved all of it till the bridge scene. I don't see how anyone can live with that kind of traffic every day. Now the neighborhood, wow was a beautiful assortment of buildings, businesses, churches!

It's so clean! And everything so well maintained. It looks lovely. Not at all like the TV shows. NY should hire you as a promo person.

I was only in Brooklyn once - back in the 70s. It still looks the same. In fact, one church there may be the one I visited.

Sure don't envy you driving in all that traffic. I guess our traffic problems in Ocala aren't so bad after all! :)
