I was wondering how it was standing there in the hall without leaning against the wall and then I saw it had feet! Ha! Great Shadow Shot, Dianne! I'm participating for the first time in this meme! :)

Now that is neat..What a great shadow. Isn't it amazing where we see shadows, when we start looking?
Happy SSS..

Wicked cool! My first impression was of some sort of friendly snake or inch worm. Then, I thought it might be some dental device. Now, I'm thinking it might be a balancing tool of some sort. What is it? What is it? :D

Okay, so I can't read. Sue me! I looked three times before I posted; I swear! LOLOLOL

Hi Dianne! Very interesting. The first and third photo look like a question mark. The second photo has an eerie feel to it. I love it. Lisa

cherie - I love all your guesses!!! far more interesting than an old cane lol

It is amazing how inanimate objects seem to have a personality of their own. Great angles and shadows.

We thought it looked like a snake at first too....then we saw what it was and laughed....our kids loved playing with our grandmother's cane so much that she never knew where it was half the time!

Perhaps a Fiddlehead fern, throwing a shadowy suggestion of spring on the wall; but no, just a wishful thought on my part. Shadows have a wonderful extension of reality about them. Very nice.

Dianne said...

amy - thanks!! glad you thought it was fun :)

summer kitchen - it's funny, my cat Siren is really afraid of the cane with feet. all I have to do is move it an inch and he takes off!! yet he plays with the other standard cane. I guess the feet make the difference.

me ann - 'extension of reality' is a great way to describe the allure of shadows!

It's great how everyday objects make for such interesting shadows.

Dianne, come by my blog to read a letter to Barack Obama by Alice Walker, the author. I promise you'll love it! :)

Wonderful photos of the cane's shadow. The first one looks like a snake that has been charmed.

The second one looks like a question
mark and the third one .. kinda creepy looking for some reason.

I love the mood of these pictures, Dianne. It's always challenging to effectively capture shots with such deep shadows, but you've made it look easy here.

You have such an eye for composition!

That's a great shadow shot, Dianne. I especially like the middle one - it has a snake-like appearance that's mysterious as well as daunting. It commands respect, somehow. I hope that makes some sort of sense to someone else besides me! :-)

Hugs

olga - it is :) that's why I love shadows, makes the ordinary extraordinary

magical - you're welcome! I loved your first SS and look forward to many more :)

mary - I will!! I love Alice Walker

patti - a lot of people think the 2nd one is creepy LOL
isn't it cool how everyone sees something different, another reason I love photography.

carmi - thank you so much!! I struggle over my editing and I question myself and just genrally make myself artistic nutso so to receive such a lovely compliment is so wonderful.

pagan - makes sense to me and that's what counts LOL
I like the 2nd one because I played with the light so much abd actually got the feel I wanted. a tiny victory :)

Very cool shadow pics. It kind of reminds me of my cats' "gonna feed me?" tail.

Dianne said...

hilary - oh yes!! the feed me tail, I know it well :)

oooh...Dianne...I've got to tell you....

I'm a big lover of old movies, and these shots remind me of all those wonderful shadow images you see in those films.

AWESOME, dear lady!
