A sampling of Christmas decorations from my street.
These soldiers are very old yet they still stand tall. My neighbor remembers getting these when her kids were small - her youngest is now 34.
This Snowman is a bit younger but not by much. Last year he started watching over the deer.
My house has red bows everywhere.
This Santa hangs out across the street. He has a very odd face. I'll try to get a close-up but I don't want to hurt my neighbor's feelings. Last year when this guy first appeared I told her that he looked like a Columbian drug dealer from the Christmas episode of CSI:Miami.
My Snowman is a bit sleeker that the one above.
Next week I'll share some of the lights from around my town.

Cute outdoor decorations. Liked the old soldiers.
I have similar in wood, miniatures, that is.
That Santa would scare me at night time. he looked very much alive, and not entirely pleasant.
From Felisol
Your street is so like Wonderland of Santa!! :) Extremely festive for the season :)
These are wonderful decorations. Plastic, wood and fiberglass are fine materials for holiday decorations. The red is the thing for me, red makes this season look festive. And a happy Ruby Tuesday to you!
felisol - that's how I feel! I really don't like that Santa lol
napabaoniya - thanks - it's a nice street and people enjoy the decorations
there's another street near where they have a contest!! I have to try and get a shot of it
it's -uh- very loud!! and bright
ralph - red is a good holiday color :)
have a great Tuesday
Fun... I'm still trying to pull something together for Ruby Tuesday. I enjoyed your shadows down below too.
I was just telling my daughter yesterday that I want to GET one of those Santa's or Snowmen -- the old fashioned kind! I keep buying yard decorations and the new fangled stuff never lasts for more than a couple of years and then it gets all UGH... so I want to go back to the old way of doing it!
You told your neighbor WHAT???? LOL!
Damm Di I see red all over the place! Nice photography sexy NY momma! :D
Very nice :D
Lovely Chrissy shots! Bit I think the most fascinating one is the last one of the snowman!
Your neighborhood looks quite festive.
I have a plastic snowman just like your neighbors. We got it when the kids were small. My oldest is almost 29. We actually put him up today.
I love your icy looking guy.
The last pic is so nice! The "snowman" looks so unique. What a piece of art!
I really love your ice cube snowman! Never saw one like him before.
raven - you always find something great!!
Mia says thanks - she's glad you enjoyed her skunk disguise :)
melli - it's hard to find stuff that lasts, we had a lovely angel and after 2 years the wings stopped moving, year #3 all her color peeled off, last year she was retired
my neighbor asked!! what can I say - that Santa has a very odd face - it made her husband laugh
roger - thank you my sweet man ;)
m.kate - thanks :)
gemma - I like my little geometrical snowguy, thanks
I have to get some shots of everything lit up
carletta - those big plastic decorations last forever and make me so happy - that snowman has such a sweet face :)
dora - thanks, he is unusual which is what I liked about him, and simple - we like white lights and simple
bobbie - thanks :)
we got him him at Branch Brook - they have a few store thru-out NJ and they have some interesting stuff
Visit my post today and play along if you like. I would love to see your story line.
David
We only decorate the inside of the house. Amazed how much effort you've put into it. Very nice!
Your street looks so festive! I like to hear that someone keeps her decorations for many years...but it's amazing that your neighbour has had her soldiers for about 30!
All that is needed is some snow..
I'm not seeing as many lights up at night around here. Wait. I don't go out at night anymore! ;-)
It's the truth. I hate the cold and once I'm home, it's jammies time. I'm turning into such an old lady! :-)
It's always cool to see different people's versions of Christmas decorations. What is your snowman made out of? Is it styrofoam? He puts the Columbian drug lord Santa to shame with his uniqueness! ;-)
So you visited all your new guests in your street? Thanks to introduce them to us. I love these Christmas characters. Next time, zoom in a little to show me in details what a Columbian drug dealer looks like! You made me laugh with this one.
Thanks for Gabriel. Daryl made me know for the birthday date. But I didn't know how to find Dianne at Forks....I tried but just found a lot of awards distribution on many blogs....So,... I was waiting for your visit, Dianne.
Joyeux anniversaire de France for your son too. I won't forget next year, if I keep blogging.
Oooh, I love the Santa on the porch. It's pretty x-massy around here, too :o)
Wow!! You and your neighbours really seem to take Christmas decorating seriously! Great rubies!
What a cute street you live on. It's funny. You buy something inexpensive for some fill in decorations when you're young and poor. Then, 15 years later, you realize that you have a "tradition". :)
And LOL @ Columbian Drug Dealer Santa. heh-heh-heh :D
Brr, that big Santa of your neighbours is *a bit* nightmare-ish, the mailbox bow is pretty, pretty though!
Di, you crack me up - A Colombian drug dealing Santa! LOL! Love the decorations! Happy Ruby Tuesday! :)
Oh, I love those dancing Santas. My 3 year old is a bit scared of him, though. My first Ruby Tuesday.
diane, you have some crazy creatures around your neighborhood but then again, I live way far away from them so who am I to say?!
I wanted to thank you for your kind and compassionate words to me on my blog...I see you know of what I speak...I am so very sorry but your words to me and your understanding spoke deeply to me....many blessings to you for your continued well-being....
I got a good laugh out of the Columbian dealer Santa! Love the older decorations. They take me back to my own childhood Christmases. Nice photos!
Lots of red for Christmas. Great choices, Dianne.
I love a good Christmas tradition. :D
Your comment about the Santa made me giggle. Are you a CSI Miami fan?
I love this Ruby Tuesday meme! Your ruby shots are so fun & festive!
I've always suspected Santa of being a Columbian drug dealer! Toys in that big sack he carts around? Yeah right Santa! ;)
dave - your continuing story project is a fun and fantastic idea - unfortunately I am swamped with work and have already neglected several tags and my Wordzzle project - hopefully next time! thanks for thinking of me :)
nana - after living in an apartment most of my life one of the joys was decorating outside - we do it for Halloween and Easter too :)
your EG - she was going to get rid of them and I told her if she did I would steal them from the trash ;)
plus her grandkids now look forward to them - it's a wonderful tradition
rambling - we might get some soon :)
pagan - I don't go out at night much either - what a party pair we are LOL
he's made out of something that feels like fiberglass - he is a bitch to store away lol
catherine - thank you :)
sorry it took me so long to show up, I move slower now that I'm older ;)
Gabriel is a beautiful boy!! and that is one of my favorite names
ivanhoe - it's nice when a whole neighborhood decorates.
jientje - we do lol
thanks
cherie - and I love traditions like that :)
I'm telling you - that Santa is creepy!!
prosit - thanks, I'm happy to see others can see how creepy that Santa is
big red bows are my favorite :)
mary - you know me! always going for the laugh ;)
crazy - I'm a bit scared of him!!
linda - I'm betting that Santa doesn't think I look to normal either lolololol
I am so very glad my words helped a bit - that is the wonder of blogging, you find moments when your words make a difference and when you can make someone feel less alone - I find a lot of comfort for myself in that
we shall both keep on keeping on :)
mymaracas - those soldiers are the best - glad you got a laugh at Santa's expense ;)
jan - thanks :)
askew - I love a good giggle!! I really like the original CSI but I do catch the Miami re-runs late at night. I used to adore David Caruso back when he was on NYPD Blue.
harriet - careful! the good Santa might hear us and then we're in for it!
I love to see decorated streets ! Unfortunately it is not so much use here. People decorate their windows with lights, hang a wreath at the door knob and that's it. Only very few put something outside in their gardens.
Love the decorations, especially the Drug Dealing Santa. Too funny.
I like yours - great crisp lines, a fun twist on a snowman.
Oh I enjoyed this!! I love your stylish snowman!
Oh boy Dianne!
for sure and that Santa had better go on a fast two week diet if he wants to be able to eat all the sweets and drink all of the milk that the kids leave out for him.
He looks like he is already stuffed enough and tbe poor reindeer will have a hard time lugging him around!
This year Christmas really started early. There are more decorations and more lights. I think that the new water meters that the city put in eacb house has put the price of water down about 60 per cent. Before tbe meters were put in there was a set rate tbat everyone paid and tbat was 240 dollars every three months and now it is about 75 dollars every three months.
Now people have a little extra money that they can spend for tbe hydro to light up their houses on the outside!
So you think that Betty's little white doggie is cute?
Well Dianne, I guess that he is but I prefer her fluffy black cat, myself. I am going to have to feature that little darling sometime some Ruby Tuesday!...Love Terry
your street is a christmas wonderland!
thanks for visiting...
Awesome shots. I love looking at everyone's decorations. That Santa is a bit creepy and would totally freak my kids out.
Lovely Christmas decorations on the street.
Paz
How fun to see the holiday decorations in your neighborhood. Thanks for sharing.
Hugs and blessings,
Just want to say, Dianne, thank you for visiting so many "RED people." No elves working for me. I should be doing my schoolwork but I just love posting new photos and things at this time of year! Thank you again! :)
very Christmas'y street already! ours isn't like that yet!:(
Oh boy i'm so-o-o-o late here.
Nice decorations on your street. LOL at your description of that Santa.
I like your snowman. He's cool. :-D
Happy Belated Ruby Tuesday and may I be the first to wish you a Happy Dec. 16 Ruby Tuesday!
Okay, the life size Santa is a little over the top don't you think?
That Santa cracks me up. My Dad used to have one with red glowing eyes. It's wasn't supposed to be creepy either. But I couldn't be in the same room with it!
omg, that Santa almost looks real!!!
I really like the nutckrackers. (I think I totally misspelled it).
