Camera Critters: Safety in Numbers?

These guys were hanging out by the trash cans at the marina. They keep their distance from the gulls - I assume it's a union thing.

Check out all the CAMERA CRITTERS

This photo works so well in black and white. Nicely done, Di!

I like watching the stupid pigeons in the city. I guess I'm easily amused. ;-)

pagan - thanks! :)
funny thing here in the burbs - the pigeons don't venture into the backyards - actually they don't come here at all
I assume it has to do with a pecking order that I don't understand
in NY they were everywhere - now I have to visit them

Probably their break time!

Wow that's a lot of pigeons! Their feathers are all ruffled up, are they cold?

Where I live we see more seagulls than pigeons ... but they sure don't seem to 'mix' much. My Camera Critters features Molly today at Small Reflections.
Hugs and blessings,

Definitely! The Marina Pigeon's Union is the toughest to crack. They are hard-core union birds!

mimi - lol - before they went back to work pooping on my car

wil - it was very very windy!! temps in the 30s but the wind chill was wicked

storyteller - they definitely keep away from each other

NoBS - and I bet the gull union has NJ mob ties lol

You certainly captured them well. I noticed very few of them have their necks fully extended.

Really liked the first shot in your sky series too. Great angles.

Well, must be break time. There sure are a LOT of them. Cool photo.

a really great shot for Critters.
Do you think the 3 up front are the union leaders, trying to decide what to tell the rest of the guys?

That or they're trying to keep warm together! Thanks for visiting Spatter...

This many pigeons together make me nervous. Unless I have my umbrella.

Very nice. I like it in b&w. Lisa

I think they just want to blend in with all the other clicks. Maybe these pigeons are part of a 'feather gang'. I love it in B&W.

Birds of a feather flock together. :)

Definitely for sure. A great picture of a fascinating species who have not received the billing they perhaps deserve. I seldom think to take their pictures. They seem to always spend their lunchtimes together.

Nice black & white shot !!!

Here in Nevada there are not that many unions, so the gulls and pigeons hand out together :-)
