Sepia Scenes & Creative Photography: At the Party

These are a few scenes from the Birthday Party in Brooklyn that I attended this past Sunday. I picked those that lent themselves to SEPIA SCENES.

There can never be too much food ... This is the cocktail hour station that included a brick oven where any pizza with any topping was made for you - right in front of your eyes.

The main room leads out to a deck. During the summer there are colorful fountains and masses of flowers out on the deck. This party was limited to immediate family and friends - so there were only 10 tables like this - not counting the head table. And that floor was made for dancing.

Each room has skylights. Some with chandeliers.

If the amazing food and music and company wasn't enough - there was a giant party favor box for each guest. I'll open it and post a photo another day. It's fun to wonder what's in there for a few days.

And because I must see everything in some shade of purple I have added this ...

... as my long overdue contribution to CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY

It looks like a wonderful party. I particularly love both pictures of the chandeliers. Think I prefer the purple.

So does that bar serve drinks or just pizza? lol ;)

Purple is one of my favorite colors ... what fun ... pizza, good company, drinks ... a place to dance .. did anyone dance? Are you still in your cast?

i like the third photo from the top. it looks like a diamond ... the light, the lines, and the geometry make a wonderful photo.

thanks for visiting and commenting on my JAGAT FOTOGRAFI blog, Liz.

WOW! What a wonderful party! I love the sepia pics.

My own pizza the way I like it and a drink - that would have been the party to crash! :)
My favorite is the wrapped gift - nice sepia. Wondering what's inside....

bobbie - I like the purple one too :)
the chandeliers themselves are nothing special - it's the skylights that make them beautiful

cherie - there was a full bar in 2 locations - I couldn't get a good shot of either one without getting people in the photo and I won't post photos of folks w/out their permission - how the hell do you explain a blog to a bunch of old Italian guys from Brooklyn - and they never left the bar!! lol

daryl - the cast is off the ankle and most days I don't even need the brace - so that's the good news - of course on the see-saw of my life that has to be countered by the fact that my knee is a mess and my back has been "out" for weeks - they shoot horses don't they? ;)
a lot of people danced

eki - I like that one a lot too, thanks!! made me think of a spaceship

ilanadavita - seems that's the winning shot! thanks :)

RLL - it really was!! it was her 70th birthday - I have know the family for over 20 years - we used to rent a floor in their house - they are the best!!

carletta - i know this probably sounds nuts - but I often don't open gifts right away - I save them until I'm down and then give myself a perk
I'm odd ;)

I never would have thought of doing the photos in sepia and yet they look great...

Ooh, I love the effect of the skylight on the chandelier. Very pretty.
My favorite is the 'poiple' one as well.

Thanks for joining in CP this week. I Ralph and I were hoping for some more players. I'm sure Roger was too!

P.S. Glad your cast is off your ankle. Sorry about your knee and your back.

We'll all feel better in the spring, right?

I love brick oven wood burning pizza - the unevenness of the cooking make for a delicious crust. I'll have mine with fresh tomato slices, basil and mozzarella!

Parties for special people do transcend the food. To talk, laugh and reminisce over the good times is where events like this shine...and not just through the skylights!

The first especially has a very timeless quality about it.
