I love the shape of this tree, it reminds me of an old soul, bent but not broken. And I love how it hangs over the walk, I get such a kick out of watching people try to skirt around it or under it. That makes the tree even more endearing to me - it is holding its ground and demanding respect.

lovely in sepia...
My entry for SC this week : in HERE. Hope you have time to visit . Thanks
Cool shot. Cool tree!!
I'd love to see some other angles of this tree... is it possible?
Get low to the ground, and position the tree so it's in the right of the frame... so you can't see any of the other one. Maybe even try a portrait orientation. I think if you angle up towards the sky, the bend might be more prominant... just a thought.
I love your story about the tree. It rises up old memories. There was a similar tree near my junior high school... Best wishes :)
I love the way you see things! I would value that tree simply for it's uniqueness.
Old and crotchety and stubborn. That's my kind of tree!
And you gave it a great treatment here.
A tree with a personality, Dianne! Wonderful! Happy Sepia Scenes!
Nice shot - is that water on the other side of the fence beyond the snow?
Good shot ... I wonder if that tree is angling for a better view ...
the daily - thank you :)
manz - I will try your wonderful suggestions - I love this park and try to get there often so I will do that next time I'm there
rosidah - isn't it wonderful that we remember trees like that
there was a tree outside the window of my middle school that I remeber so fondly - it brushed against the windows and sounded like it was whispering
melli - thank you!! I love to put personality and human traits to the things around me - I think it helps us appreciate and respec them
I hate when people say - it's just a tree, just a cat, just a whatever - it's a creation :)
mojo - mine too!! not to mention that on a bad day I think I look like that
Oy!!
mary - it does have a personality :) thanks!!
tricia - yes - it is Raritan Bay in Central NJ - the beach was snow covered.
daryl - ahhhh - a good pun is a work of art ;)
I liked how you saw this scrub pine (?) tree as an old soul, bent but not broken. I'd love to watch people get around it!
The sepia works well with the old tree.
Funny how many of us see ourselves compared to the tree.
Lovely photo and I like the hue of the sepia you chose - makes the tree look chocolate like. :)
I like how the sepia effect enhances the tree.
I love how it looks like it's reaching out for something and not letting anything or anyone stand in its way!
Wonderful shot. And I enjoyed reading about why you like the tree. I hope no one cuts it down because they consider it a bother, though.
I like the tone to the sepia. Looks very vintage!
Actually, this tree could charge a toll as it crosses the road and lowers like the barrier of the old toll booths on the Garden State Parkway...
Such a fine pine deserves our respect, old but not feeling old!
Pine trees can become very expressive from battling with the elements. I love the enlargement.
I like this picture in sepia. Especially the tree in it with it's shadow on the ground. Lovely! :)
I love the way you describe the tree and it looks great in sepia. I hope that nobody gets the itch to cut it down...Michelle
Wonderful memories indeed :). I remember seeking for shelter among its shadows on hot summer days.
patti - it's very entertaining to watch ;)
carletta - thanks! I warmed up the sepia - I didn't like how pink it looked originally - that tree is too dignified for pink hues
ilanadavita - thanks :)
linda - it really is a good old tree, and there are many of them there
EG - I was told the trees are all protected - made me happy
marLou - thanks :)
ralph - NY still has those damn arms!! on EZ Pass lanes no less - isn't that silly?
the tree does indeed command respect
PJ - thanks for enlarging! the shadow is fantastic in the large version
napaboaniya - I just mentioned the shadow and then read your comment :)
we are great minds
rambling - trees are such old souls to me - the tree is protected - I called the township and asked
rosidah - nothing more wonderful than the cool shade of a grand old tree :)
What a great pick for sepia. I love the golden tones and also how you captured the shadows. it's really very pretty Dianne!!
Happy weekend,
Jackie:-)
Sepia does magic for some shots...I have a feeling this is one of them.
