Window Views & Sepia Scenes: A Big Old House

This house is amazing to me. I just discovered it while getting lost trying to find a movie theater to get advance tickets for the first Harry Potter show for my nieces.

It's hard to get a good angle on the house. Very busy street. Active driveway across from it. Church next door. Tons of overhead wires and overgrown trees.

Yet I like what I did capture ...

I thought the sepia might bring out the details, the blue is distracting ...

I'm adding this because it reminds me of The Munsters ...

Fantastic old houses unfortunately are almost always surrounded by lines.
Glad you didn't let them distract you. Nice shots of the windows. I always wonder if they have Victorian furniture.
Nice post Dianne!

Did you get the Harry Potter tickets? :)

Very nice shots! In sepia, however, I wouldn't have said the Munsters I was thinking more the house from psycho. LOL.

Hi Dianne, Beautiful place (I especially like that 3rd floor balcony) & great sepia, as well! I also like the b&w photo, too! Very nice

Wow, what a change with the sepia but darn those wires.

Wow that really is an amazing house. It must have been built a few years back.

I love old houses. I bet that one takes a lot of money and time to keep up though.

That's so CUTE!!! Very "Cape May." On this particular day I love the color of the house because of the bright blue sky and the brilliant green grass. I can see how on a more gray day it might look a bit "day-glow".

I also like the sepia shots the best. I so love these old houses.

When I was two we lived in a small southern town and across the street from just such a house. I do not remember the lady that lived there but, I do remember the house. It is where I learned to count.

The lady would take me through the house and one day we would count only doors and the next the windows etc. I'm certain that is where my love of both began.

Oooo, Dianne, that is a choice house for dispaly, in sepia and in the original colors! :)

The sepia gives us a nice overview of the Victorian architectural details and classic shape.

However, the detailing of this era is what makes the Victorian. Unlike Mary's sepia dancer, the bold detail colors seem to work best here. But if not for the multiple views, I wouldn't be able to compare the possibilities. Nice!

I think you're right about the sepia and the B&W.

Where I used to live in London, there was this old Victorian house with pillars and all-sorts, like this one, and the guy who lived there had painted it the most outrageous colours - yellows, reds, blues. It was quite the local landmark.

Great building with wonderful white-painted details. I like it too. ;-)

Dang those wires! There ought to be a law against above-ground electric wires. They get in the way of so many fantastic photos.

But hey, the sepia does a pretty good job of disguising them. I think I prefer the sepia over the B&W for this lovely building.

What a gorgeous Victorian. I also like the details in the architecture. Around here we have streets lined with houses like that where the fat cat industrialists who owned the factories 100 or so years ago lived.

I loved The Munsters. Now you're talking good TV fun.

What a wonderful old house ... reminds me of some up in the City of Orange that have been restored. I love all the permutations of the image here ... each is fascinating and reminds me how taking time to look from multiple perspectives is worth the time.
Hugs and blessings,

Oooh, I love old houses like that one. Glad I don't have to take care of it, however. They require lots of maintenance. I love the shade of blue.
