Little Shop of Pretty

I often pass this interior design shop. They always have beautiful window displays. Unfortunately there's so much writing stenciled on the window that it's impossible to get any good shots.

This time they had a beautiful outdoor display ...

the feet of some fabulous creature?

I wish I could have gotten a better shot of the overall display but there was a delivery going on and I couldn't get directly in front or to the right.

There is nothing especially striking about the windows themselves but I love their placement and their number.

I took these last winter. The sun was coming in and out of low heavy clouds and you can see how it changed the light.

I don't know what they call this little structure. A lot of the homes around here have them but not as nice as this one.

Makes me think of 'The Ghost and Mrs. Muir'

Wednesday Duo: Blues and Views

I visited FORT HANCOCK last week. Located at Sandy Hook, NJ and part of the Gateway National Park the fort has many old abandoned buildings that offer a treasure trove of photo possibilities.



This building had large garage doors so I'm assuming it was for washing vehicles although I did a kick out of picturing rows and rows of washing machines and dryers in there.

Further down the road I found a small building that was really nothing much to look at, just a small dilapidated structure that might have been a home for the lowest rank soldier on the base.

I was about to pass it by when a strange yet wonderful sound came from one of the windows ...



That stretch of rusted wire was moving in the wind and the medallion type object at the end of it was making a weak whistling sound.

I like to think that as it fell apart the little building decided to decorate itself and create a way to capture the attention of someone like me.

I'll be posting more shots from the fort and the area around it and Sandy Hook Lighthouse.

There is a bar in that lit-up building. I really wanted to stop and have a few - or twenty - but I was alone and driving and that's never a good idea.

This is the second story of a nearby town's center of business - their Town Hall. I like the rounded facade and I love brick.

I took this a couple of Sundays ago - back before it starting snowing every other day. This is one of the buildings on the campus of a private high school. I pulled into the parking lot to check directions and stayed to take some photos.

I love all the windows, and windows within the door.

And the sky was so blue that day.

This is the best shot I could get of the entire building. A dark cloud passed over and by the time it moved on a truck was parked in front.

I took these shots in late November. It was such a warm fall that the flowers were still in bloom.

I noticed the trees reflected in the windows.

Window Views: Catch The Setting Sun

This little domed window thingie is on top of a bank. I was in a parking lot across the road right around sunset and noticed how the sun appears to be caught inside the dome.

I love moments like that ...

Window Views on Mid Week Blues: Does Bon Jovi Live Here?

This is the back of one of the beautiful homes on the Navesink River in Middletown and Red Bank, NJ - this particular stretch sits right on the town line.

Bon Jovi has a house somewhere on this road although there are also rumors that he moved. Every time I visit this neck of the woods I remember the time I took a drive with my niece and whenever she saw someone she'd call out "Does Bon Jovi live here?"

She never got an answer but she did get lots of smiles and waves.

Sepia Scenes/Window Views: Grand Old Building

This building is in the same town as the Ice Cream Parlour featured in the post below. Madison, NJ is about an hour north of me. I was there for an appointment and of course I had the camera with me.

The street was very busy since it was lunch time and one of the corners was closed for landscaping so it was hard to get all the angles I wanted but I did my best to convey a sense of the structure.
