What a great story! Birds can be so funny. I live on the top floor of my dorm, and the building is built on the side of a hill. So, even though when you enter the building, it looks like I'm on the 2nd story, there's a 4 story drop outside of my window. A have a flock of pigeons who love to line themselves on the edge of the roof and just drop off and swoop down, like dive bombers turning in formation getting ready to attack. They'll do this over and over again, like 10-20x's in an hour. At first it would unnerve me when I was trying to study. "What the hell is going on out there?" Now, I ignore them with slight amusement. "Awww, it's just the kids playing again." LOL Hope you have a good weekend! :)
Those were great, Dianne! Love the photos--and the drama. LOL!
Cherie, what are the pigeons swooping down on? Is it really just for fun or is there food down there or what? Or are they just trying to rattle your cage? :)
Lisa: They're not swooping down at anything that I can tell. It seems that it's just for the thrill of it, like going on a rollercoater. And they do it over and over again. I was/am amazed.
That's neat, Cherie! The Ravens will play like that here but I don't normally think of pigeons as being playful birds. You learn something new every day. :)
Hello Dianne Another bird lover here - I always get a smile when I see any of them lined up on wires. I think its the jostling for position that catches your eye - is there a pecking order in wild flocks I wonder? Take care Cathy
