Sepia Scenes: Honor

An American Legion post in a nearby town has a little "garden" of medallions honoring veterans.

I think the glow from this one is lovely ...

I also like the graceful age of the original ...

Anything made from brass seems a natural in sepia. This soft metal piece is so artistic with its scrolling design - sepia allows the artwork to shine!

what a lovely and inspiring garden this must be.

I like the original better. The sepia conversion lacks the contrast (and impact) of the original.

You made me shed a tear.

And no...it wasn't the vodka.

My paternal Grandad got blown to bits in WWII.

I've got his ring.

It was all that was found as it happens.

We're a bloody awful lot of creatures aren't we when all's said and done?

That's a beautiful photo, Dianne--very striking--and a beautiful memorial.

It looks perfect in sepia Dianne; but I LOVE the original. Such a wonderful patina.
I saw some of these for the first time last spring. I had never seen any before.

I love world war I memorial things. It seems like such innocence that they say only "world war" and don't have to separate it with a number. We were so naive.

Loved the original, the natural aging really shows and is fitting.

My vote is on that original too. So glad you posted it as well.

I noticed there is no number, meaning this was from WWI, "the war to end all wars."
How sad that that was not the case.

The medal looks nice in both photos, but I also prefer the original because you can see how it's worn. Nice details in the craftsmanship.

I'm with many of the other commentors, I like the original one better because it shows it's wear and tear. I love what it stands for.

THANKS EVERYONE

I too like the original better than the sepia. The thing about the sepia that I did like was the glow on the ground around the medallion.

It looks gret in sepia. It actually makes it look newer. ;-)
