Ruby Tuesday: Honoring Their Little Spot On Earth

I pass this house often. It sits on a busy, narrow road so it's virtually impossible to get any photos of it but I did manage this one shot while waiting for someone to turn into a driveway.

I love the mailbox.

What I truly love is that the owners of the property did everything right. Where most of their neighbors cut down trees or disturbed root systems to put up ugly fencing they left the trees and created a property line by planting bushes.

The back of their property meets a large parcel of woods owned by the town. Again - they planted bushes and more trees to repair the damage the previous owners had created with their concrete and fence.

One day while whizzing by I saw a teenage boy back there cleaning up trash in the woods. Another time I saw an older man filling bird feeders.

One day I am going to pull into the driveway and leave a note that simply says "On behalf of Mother Nature - Thank You"

RUBY TUESDAY

You know, I think that's a wonderful idea about the note. What a lovely place! Your photo is so pretty capturing the bright red mailbox, pretty green foilage and the dappled shadows. Very well done!

Oh I love that mailbox! Doesn't it look like the letterbox equivalent of the "red phone" featured in the political dramas of old? Letters of great import for the fate of the planet must be delivered in it. Number Six picks up his mail from there.

Smelling of sage, fresh from the Neverworld, the correspondence of the faeries and sprites. Oh..the stamps!

Or at least it looks as if that should be the case. It is certainly far more interesting than the average mailbox, even if if likely receives mostly the same Public Service bills and catalogues.

Plus, the occasional missive from a Hermit atop a mountain, because come on that is made for magical exchanges, I'm telling you.

Thank you for the fun, inspiring photo!

Natural screens are always nice, it doesn't cut off the house and yard, but become a part of it. Not an added on look, we have a style of the earth. So nice!

Oh, that is a nice commentary on the owners. I hope they are as nice as you imagine. Nice red mailbox, too.

it's really good to know that they didn't cut down the trees. I love the red mailbox..you can actually see it from afar.

I like the mailbox too! They sound like the kind of neighbors I would like to have.

What wonderful neighbors to have, fitting their house into the environment rather than tearing down the environment to glorify their house. Great mailbox too :).

Lovely to see people who care! and who make people they don't even know happy. I think maybe you should leave the note -- or just holler out to them if you see them in the yard maybe?!

It is funny, I have seen several red mailboxes on the blogosphere this week. Kudos to the home owners too for their natural landscape.

Those homeowners have the right idea ~ creating a nice, natural screen of trees and bushes. A pretty piece of property.

So many people disrupt nature. Thanks for sharing this.

Love the red mailbox. I can see you driving past and saying to yourself "Ruby Tuesday photo!"

Wow! This is a cool mailbox! I like your idea of leaving a note to praise the owners for thinking about the environment.
