Dinner At The Lake

As I left the park this past Sunday I stopped by the lake just in time to see this majestic fellow having dinner. He walked ever so slowly toward something only he could see. I love his long thin legs and neck and how they stretch and bend ...

I couldn't see what he caught, just the ripples as he snapped it out of the water ...

And then he glided over toward the darker shadows created by the impending sunset ...

He never looked at me and I stood as still as possible. It was magic.

Herons are one of my favourite birds. It's is Frank's number one winged creature. Beautiful shots, Dianne. I absolutely love the last one. The colours, light and reflection are amazing!

Wow..these are fantastic photos Dianne...what a treat...he probably got a fish, a frog or even a small rodent if there aren't fish around. Love these birds......Michelle

PS....not that the rodent was in the water...unless he had a life jacket on....

Wow! Fantastic shots! They look like lovely Japanese paintings. I love Herons, they're so graceful and beautiful. It's so neat that you got to spend time watching one fish!

I love great blue herons! Sometimes they stand so still for so long -- it was magic (and/or patience) that you got to see him in so many poses. Lovely photos.
