We were at a friend's house and Hope spent quite awhile watching a bird. When the bird flew off she waved and said "bye birdie, go home to Mommy"

I love your Hope stories. And I love those curls she has too. Just too cute!
You are a nice GrandMum, Dianne.
There are soooooo many who miss the grandmother influence and teaching.
That is cute, telling the bird good bye. She is cute all the time. Does she every have terrible twos?
Hapy MidWeek Blues,
..
She is so adorable and you are such a great and ideal grandparent! Thanks for the smiles, just what I needed this evening! Hugs to you both!

Seeing the world anew through a child's eyes. You are blessed and I love that you share that blessing with us.
Hope is a very lucky girl to have you in her life while growing up. This post makes me miss my own grandmother.
Hope is growing up with your philosophy so there is hope for the future:-)
What a good nana you are .. and that quote is perfection .. I am stealing it for my 'overheard' list
I absolutel love this post. You are doing a wonderful thing with Hope. Giving her an appreciation with Earth. Letting her know our interconnectedness with all living beings. Cheers Lady Di!!
ADORE this post, Dianne!
"We go out to the yard and look at birds and insects and squirrels and talk about how they too have families and that they deserve to be happy and safe."
Bless you!

It's so wonderful to have a relationship like that with Hope. I'm sure that she'll not only grow to have respect and love for many things but will always appreciate you for all the time you spent and things you taught her.
And Hope will learn to love nature like her Grandma. I can't wait to have a little 'Hope' of my own. How precious she is and I love the curls... thank you for posting to Nature Notes Dianne....Michelle
Wonderful post! I love your ideas, you have an adorable heart as well!

There's nothing better to give to a child than a sense of wonder for the world around it.
What lovely things for her to learn. I love Hope's name! She looks so adorable in blue.
Love that the two of you connect with each other about birdies and nature!
That's great that you are doing this with your granddaughter.
When my daughter was growing up she used to complain that she thought I cared more about the birds than her because I would tell her to wait until they got off the deck to go out on it when they were eating or bathing there.
Great things to learn at a young age! This post put a smile on my face!
I think Hope is very lucky to have you as a grandmother!
How wonderful to pass along a love and appreciation of nature and its beauty. And what a "fun" way to spend time with your granddaughter enjoying the beauty of the world together. Have a lovely weekend. Mickie :)
Oh, isn't she adorable? I love that.

Perfect story and you have a wonderful philosophy, Parents don't always have time to teach those lessons. Hope is lucky -- (but so are you)!
Oops =-- I left the wrong link on the post above (I am working on a post for tomorrow's skywatch and forgot I'd superimposed it over my own). (Getting old -- and tired).
