Drink Up

This sign sits in the corner of the parking lot where I go to buy my "elite liberal" red wine.

As a former marketing professional I know that associating alcohol with a charity can be dicey but I suppose a lot of folks feel that beer goes with summer, especially July 4th celebrations. It bothers me a bit since NJ has a high incidence of drunk driving. Don't get me started on drunken illegal fireworks.

Budweiser is donating over two million dollars to Folds of Honor. The amount is tied into sales in some way.

I checked out the Folds of Honor site and George W. Bush popped up in the scroll and I immediately got the tension headache he has always given me. I had to laugh at that though since the soldier on the sign looks a lot like President Obama to me. Maybe I'm too political?

Bottom line - if anything gets done for military families then good.

Yep, we need to do more for our military families. For sure!

I didn't realize you were into marketing. I bet you were good at it! You have a quick mind and a super sense of humor. :)

I agree about the families but I couldn't drink Bud even for that good purpose! If part of my white wine purchase went there, now......

It's good that the money goes to a good cause but I wouldn't drink a Bud either!

It makes it look like it's your civic duty to buy beer. lol If they did the same with Dr. Pepper, I might consider it. :D

There will be drinking and I hope it's responsibly. The families deserve it. I'll take a Bud Light with Lime. :)
And yes, Dianne, the soldier looks a lot like the President - too funny!

he does look like Pres. Obama.:p
beer and charity--seems like a strange combination but yes, as long as it's for a good cause, anybody can sponsor.:p

It's amazing at all the messages you can read into things if you take the time. ;)
Like you say, selling beer is maybe not the best way to raise money. But at the end of the day, if it's going to a good cause then I guess the ends justify the means.

I don't think I could manage a Bud - even at those incredibly low prices. I'd rather find another way to support the families.

Yeah, I too try not to get too political, especially around people I don't really know all that well, but I have to say I ditto your comments about former president shrub.

Not too keen on the idea of selling alcohol for the supposed benefit of anyone. Better to do without the booze and donate the money direct.

It reminds me of some 1940s and 1950s ads..
