At 4:45 a snow plow on the street behind us stopped and the flashing yellow lights made the cats go nuts. They were zooming up and down the hall and running to the windows.
I took some photos of the back yard through an open window. An icy mixture was blowing into the camera so apologies for crappy effects.
Then I took a few more shots from the carport at the side of the house. The footprints are my son's. He came home from work in the middle of the night.
Compared to CT, MA, RI and Long Island, NY we didn't get slammed with snow. I think there's about a foot of snow out there.
We never lost power, just some flickering.

Dianne, I was SO thinking of you and two of my other blogging friends who live in the Jersey/New York areas and hoping you were safe and well.
We didn't get any snow at all, just rain and high winds. Today, it's bright and sunny, but very cold.

I agree, the "crappy" effects have a wonderful affect on the pictures I love them. Glad you are safe and that you did not get more or lose power. Thank the cats for waking you up so you could take those pictures.

Glad that you didn't get slammed to the extent of some others, but it looks like you got plenty enough. We got some here too, but but just a couple inches. More like an amount to make it look pretty again. We needed a new coat of white wash. ;) I did notice something interesting. Stuff happening here doesn't show on the national radar map. It's like because it happens so much and so often that they block it on the national level, so people in other parts of the country don't get concerned. However, it does show up when you drill down to the local level. So, just so you know, half the Rockies could be covered in blue (for snow) on the radar at any given moment. I thought it was pretty interesting when I realized it. I never would have known if I didn't live here. Just something to add to your fund of useless knowledge. Mine is overflowing. ;)
Oh my, I am so glad we live in Florida.
Those footprints in the snow are a great reminder of the valor of people who work every single day in these conditions. We spent our working lives in western Oregon, where things shut down for the most part if there was ever even a couple inches of snow, so this really gives me food for thought!
Should add that it doesn't snow hardly ever at all in that part of Oregon and they don't sand the highways usually, plus no good snow removal equipment in a lot of places. (It's not like everything was closed all winter or anything.)

it was a fast few inches in the city where the sanitation trucks double as plows and the streets get cleaned almost as fast as the snow falls ... now its raining making the intersections into icy fjords
