Creative Photography & Sepia Scenes

It’s been far too long since I posted for CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY.

And …

Today marks the first day of Mary’s newest photo project SEPIA SCENES.

So …

I decided to combine.

I took this shot this summer at a church fair. I loved the flowers and the shadow of the cross.

I then played a bit with cropping and sepia tone.

Please go by both CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY and SEPIA SCENES.
Check out the cool photographs.
Even better – join in.
All you need is any kind of a camera and an eye.

Wonderful. Digital just keeps giving new life to one picture over and over. Love it.

Very interesting. It's fun to be creative.

mar - thanks :)
the "untreated" full scene was just so pretty I had to share it

shelly - Ohhhhh I'm so glad you came to the pretty peaceful post. I was worried that I made you feel bad - I'd NEVER do that intentionally.

enigma - "great treatment" makes me feel great, thanks!! I agonize over my editing since the software just boggles my mind at times.

annie - it does!! And I still work with film too - now that they process it on to CDs. thanks for coming by :)

jan - thanks. it is fun and I find it so relaxing. Plus it's great to get to share with other enthusiasts.

I love the orginial and the effects!
That was clever cropping for the sepia - I wouldn't have thought of that.

I like your experiment here with the sepia full shot and shadows too.

The final picture really shows the cross as bigger and more impressive. And more important. What works for me is how as the areas outside the cross are diminished in importance as the cross predominates.

These make for a stunning photo display. Very, very nice!

The shadow of the cross is looking good in sepia on the wall :)

ralph - that was what I was going for. thank you so much for seeing it !!!

napaboaniya - thank you :)

I have always loved sepia photos and have always loved old sepia photos in old family albums. I think it reduces and simplifies images to shapes highlighted in contrasts and suggests a lesser complicated time. I like what you did to the cross. You also have some shades of Shadow Shot Sunday in there :-).

I really love that last shot - so much more dramatic by virtue of what you don't see.

I like all three photos. I'm very fond of shadows and these are lovely shots.

me ann - I have some shots I've taken for Shadow Sunday. I just learned of it recently. I need to edit them and hopefully join in this Sunday
You're absolutely right about sepia! thanks :)

robin - thank you! I wanted the idea of the physical object to show :)

raven - shadows are wonderful. I'm going to check out Shadow Shot Sunday - hopefully this week if I can get downstairs - all my photos are on the desk top, not the lap top

Beautiful photo. I love what you did with the cropping and sepia tones.

The modern-looking stained glass window also draws my eye.

Hmmm....never heard of Shadow Shot Sunday. Interesting!

Have a great weekend, Dianne

These are great shots and very creative.

patti - I tried to get some shots of the stained glass but the sun glare was far too strong. there was a lady inside praying so I didn't feel right taking photos inside.
Hope you have a good weekend too :)

sweeta - thank you! :)

Nice sepia shots. It is fun to play around with sepia and warmify. It can give such a different perspective to some photo's.

That is really beautiful. I love the shadow of photo.

rambling - the fun I'm having is trying to decided what shots are best suited for sepia. some photos just get too washed out or too orange in sepia.

roger - thanks Marlboro Man ;)
you always manage to make me feel pretty - even today with my reptile like foot dragging behind me

baker - thanks!! glad you like them. I am enjoying a new way to edit. your avatar photo reminds me of a tree stump photo I took a few weeks ago - your turtle back has incredibly interesting lines in it :)

gattina - thanks Lady :)
shadows are so cool, I'm trying to get more shadow shots but the sun is not cooperating ;)

onangelwings - thank you! shadows seem to please a lot of people :)

Dianne, Wow! I love the photo in color AND in sepia. And you cropped it so creatively! My sepia pic is a street on the way down from Bunker Hill... :)

I agree, I think the shadow photo is great! Love the texture of the stone.

Dianne said...

mark - thanks!!
the sepia really brought out the stone, I tried a black and white - I LOVED the way the shadow looked but the wall lost its texture.
can't have it all I guess ;)

How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.
