Thanksgiving morn often smells great around here as the turkey is roasting and we are preparing sausage stuffing. Cook an apple in the oven to add more aroma to the air. fat smells great on Thanksgiving AM!

The adult beverage section looks quite inviting, BTW!

I love the photos of your shopping trip!!!

Wow… so you are all sorts of prepared! All of that looks great!

Dianne said...

ralph - it does smell great!! I love the moment when everything is in the oven and no one is here yet. a wonderful still moment :)

kay d - thanks!! that damn cart really did attack me ;)

kay - we're pretty organized but I'm sure we'll find some way to screw it up LOL

Since we've already had our Canadian Thanksgiving last month, I'll pass on the turkey, but I'll have what you're drinking, please!

Ha! Dianne, it looks like you've got Thanksgiving under control!! Have a great week...

So many red items! The red shopping cart is interesting since those carts at my side look so boring.

Dianne said...

hilary - plenty to go around!! :)

ellen - Happy week to you too!! thanks :)

dora - there's a store around here that has purple carts!! I have got to get a shot of that :)

Dianne..I am so sorry to read about your insurance battles. I have done it for so long, first for my daughter as a child and now for me. It is galling that some nobody gets to decide what treatment I get. But I digress..this is a great RT post..

Hi, Dianne,
I love your Ruby Thanksgiving preparings.
We don't celebrate the way you do, but I'd love to be a guest in the adult section!

What a wonderful saga you have created here. I missed the note about Thanksgiving so my post has nothing to do with Thanksgiving, though it does (whew) have a bit to do with thanks giving.... (oh, my did I really say that?) Looks like you are ready for the big holiday.

Anonymous said...

Nice presentation. The red casseroles are made very near my home.

Anonymous said...

Wow… I too have so many plans for thanksgiving & feeling very excited for them.

Robin said...

You're making me hungry! (And I'm coveting that Le Creuset.)

Carletta said...

What a delightful post! But, it reminds me of all I have to do. :)

Love the red apple on your tea kettle, the definite touch of a homey welcome. I must take my camera out more often in stores, its always in my purse. I loved your tour, for some reason it makes me think back to when I used to shop in a big warehouse of a supermarket when I lived in Toronto many years ago. And, oh yes, love your cat spoon holder hiding behind the red pot! Happy Tuesday.

From beginning to end, lovely!

Everything looks god. What time should I plan to arrive?

Wow. A bonanza of Thanksgiving red! And with humor. Excellent! Thank you, Di!

I love the angle of the tea kettle shot, btw.

Dianne said...

just me - thanks :)

CR - I am nothing if not Ruby-esque!! or is that Reubenesque?

rambling - it is very frustrating especially when I pay so much money and other than this injury never need anything. good luck to you too :)

felisol - there's plenty of wine, come on over! :)

raven - I thought that was cute ;)

ilanadavita - my DIL is addicted to that cookware. that one is her favorite piece but there are more in the pantry. they're so expensive!!

beatriz - it is exciting to plan for guests.

robin - I do believe my DIL would guard that casserole with her life lol

carletta - thanks!! sorry for the reminder but do like I try to do - I make a big game out of it all and take loads of pictures. of course I'll probably be crying the night before.

me ann - I get strange looks when I just stop and take photos of turkeys but oh well - what the hell. thanks for noticing the cat spoonrest, that's my favorite although my DIL broke his twin :(

risa - thanks so much!! I do get carried away :)

your eg - my brother and his girls are coming early for appetizers before they move on further down 'da Joisey shore' and then the dinner guests get here around 2. BUT - I'll be cooking all night Wednesday (and drinking some of that wine) so come on over then !!

pagan - I'm a bimbo for bonanzas LOL
I love my tea kettle shot, made me feel very artsy fartsy ;)

Something tells me that you're gonna need the racked beverages by the time you get done with all the rest of this.

Is it just me or is the idea of "relaxation" over a holiday an alien concept? Sure seems like it is...

Wonder why we do that to ourselves...

Ivanhoe said...

Awesome story! I hope you'd share the stuff from your last pic. No soda for me, please :o)

Jientje said...

You're so right, rubies ARE everywhere!
I love that Le Creuset casserole, they're great for cooking. Is this a heart shaped one? What's the use of that?

Catherine said...

Dianne, I have already booked my single airplane ticket to visit you for Thanksgiving. Given I'm French I'll bring the 'Ruby' wine : )
If you get a casserole Le Creuset, you're inevitably a good cook. I have exactly the same as yours, a Red one too.
Thanks to share this preparation of good family moments.

Anonymous said...

An interesting saga for me : now I've been shopping for Thanksgiving with you in the US and all that while sitting in front of (at ?) my screen.

Dianne said...

mojo - I agree that the effort and the cost can be huge but the rewards can be too. There is always a point (or many) during the day when I realize that we're all together - that my cousin's new baby is making her first appearance or someone is showing off an engagement ring, or my nieces is telling everyone about her first job. That makes it worthwhile.
What I wish I could do is stop all the Christmas gift exchanging - except for the little ones - it's so unnecessary. I'd rather give to charity.

ivanhoe - I love to share. and that's only the wine, there's a cabinet full of hard stuff too lol

jientje - it is heart shaped. my DIL makes a lot of rice dishes in it since it is so deep. the shape just makes it pretty :)
she does have a heart shaped cake pan.

catherine - dress warm!! it's cold in NJ right now. I'll pick you up at the airport with a corkscrew in hand lol
my DIL is the gourmet cook. I am the home cooking, southern cooking, italian food expert.

hildegarde - if I can get eveyone to agree I'll post some photos from the feast and then you would have been there for the whole thing :)

I love how you set that up. Lots of great Thanksgiving reds. Thanks for taking the time to make it extra entertaining. :D

Boy, I could use a glass of that wine right about now.

This is one of my very favorite Ruby Tuesday posts of all time. A theme within a theme! I wanna come to YOUR house (and drink the beverages you're saving with you). Fun!

And thanks for visiting my ruby leaves and leaving a kind comment. Much appreciated.

WHat a wonderful ruby selection! Makes me wish we celebrated Thanksgiving in Sweden! :)

Fantastic series!

Dianne said...

askew - thanks!! I'm glad it was entertaining, sometimes I think I'm over the top with my theme madness ;)

sara - wow!! thanks, that makes me happy.

pixiekatten - you could just pick a day and make it your thanksgiving. years ago I had a terrible job where I always worked on holidays and my son hated it so we had 'alternative holidays' :)

bobbie - thanks!!

Gattina said...

It's amazing what you all found for red, lol !

Dianne said...

gattina - trust me I surprised myself lol
thanks for visiting while you're traveling!! that's so cool of you.

Wow, I'm impressed! So many red things for Thanksgiving, and so much fun. I especially like the shot of the teapot. The angle and shadowing are really nice.

Dianne said...

mymaracas - thanks!! I'm proud of the teapot shot, I usually screw up lighting like that :)

OMG, Dianne...this post is so cute!!!

It TOTALLY puts me in the mood for Thanksgiving too!

My eyes caught a few things here...

...the pumpkin spice coffee-mate..yummy!

...the cinammon apple candle..LOVE candles!

...and my favorite...the VINO! Love the REDS!

One of these days, we need to get together for a glass!

Thanks for a fun post!

You are so organized, Dianne. I wish I could be more so. I get overwhelmed.
Everything looks under control for a great Thanksgiving at your place.
I think I can get there in about 2 hours, right?

You did find a lot of red around you!

Have a great weekend.
