This shot gave me both.

Me too...something about the look and feel of old wood that really turns me on...course these days, it doesn't take much...right. Boy, Tracy has really turned us all on with our quest for shadow, but what a blast and what a fun group we have all become, aye.

Timber and metal make such a wonderful combination. Add an artistic shadow and you have a beautiful composition. Well done!

I love the strength of this shot.

Excellent! It's interesting how our creative eye can have its preferences for photography. I have a thing for archetecture with columns and walls and railings.

Old rusty metal is one of my favs...along with weathered wood. I just know there's a story within it all...and I want to know what it is. Besides standing the test of time, it looks better the worse it gets....I want to be remembered as a piece of rusty metal or weathered wood....looking used up but also looking like I have a story to tell. ;)

and I love shadows so there's something for everyone here :)

Beautiful. Such a nice shot that my eye saw it continuing beyond the edges. Thank you.

Dianne said...

lisa b - thank you :)

gretchen - speedy recovery!

paz - thanks :)

alissa - oh thanks, I thought it was strong as well, all that wood and rock and earth and sea with such solid shadows. I find it calming to look at

pagan - I love when I look at a scene or an object and I can already see the photograph

tt - you could never look used up, you're way too juicy. I like old weathered things for the character they portray and yes, the stories they can tell

faye - cool! thanks :)
shadows fascinate me.

greyscale - thank you!! I appreciate that so much.

m.kate - thank you, there's just something about the infinite possiblity of lines :)
have a great week

poetryman - oh I like that you felt that/saw that - that makes me happy. a photo is like a song to me, I want everyone to enjoy

Beautiful!I love lines and angles too, and often find myself taking pics of them.

Maude Lynn said...

That is a really cool shot!

Dianne said...

patti - there's something clean and crisp about long lines and then there's something abstract about angles so it satisfies both sides of my head ;)

mama zen - thank you!! :)

CrystalChick said...

This is a great picture! I was just looking thru a photography book today and I think this shot was in there! No, well, okay... it should be then. :)

Dianne said...

cryatalchick - you kill me and I love ya!! I'd die of one of my photos ever made it beyond blog land. Hell before I blogged my photos were so lonely. It's odd but none of my family or friends are into photography unless it's photos of them :)

MYM said...

That is a very cool photo.

Dianne said...

drowsey - thanks :)

Patti said...

Wow! Your head is both clean and crisp AND abstract??

Impressive. :-D

Dianne said...

patti - that's why I'm nuts!! ;)

Patti said...

Cashew, anyone?

Dianne said...

LOL patti ;)

Mojo said...

Oh really like this a lot!

Wonder what it would look like in B&W or sepia... (Are you thinking what I'm thinking?)

Wonderful lighting and composition in any palette though!

Dianne said...

mojo - thanks so much!!
maybe I'll try it in sepia
I did post a similar shot in B&W on the 'world in black and white' blog a while back.
