Looking At The Sky On Friday: Flags

These shots were taken from the parking lot that is shared by my town's library and police station - in addition to the American flag there is the town flag and the county flag and a POW/MIA flag, not sure what the others are.

In the second shot I cropped out the tree and played a bit because I wanted to make the branches more prominent. I also like the way the wind caught one of the flags - it looks a bit like a bird to me.

Take a moment and check out more LOOKING AT THE SKY ON FRIDAY

Hi Dianne, I like your flags. You found a nice collection of them, the colors go good against the cloudy background.
Happy Sky Looking! I didn't do the Ruby Tuesday and didn't even go look. I am sort of under the gun for a while (busy).

The flag that looks like a bird to you looks like a jet fighter to me. LOL Question: How close do you live to the coast?

These are really cool. There's a lot of texture going on all over the place, and the second pic has a periwinkle blue sky - neat!

The second view is nice. I like how the flagpoles are offset to the left, and that there is no perfect symmetry. The sky has hints of dark clouds, but the colorful flags don't notice...nor do we!

That's a lot of flags! Do they take them down every night or are they illuminated?

I really like how in the second photo you can really see the definition of the clouds; they look so three-dimensional! That bottom flag on the second pole looks like an Air Force flag to me, btw!

I love colorful flags flying in the wind. Great photos, and really nice clouds, too.

Terrific pictures....love the flags!! And I scrolled down and looked at the St. Patrick's Day pics...they are really nice!! Being on the road, we sort of missed St. Patrick's Day this year.

Jim - this is my first photo post all week, so I know about under the gun - I hope you're good busy

cherie - it does look like a jet! I'm just a few minutes from Raritan Bay which is directly across from lower Manhattan and feeds into the Atlantic, about 30 minutes from Sandy Hook - some people consider us part of the Jersey Shore, some call us North, some call us Central - how's that for a complicated answer!!
My feeling is if I can't walk to the beach then I'm not at the shore

tink - the 2nd shot is the one I played with, I like the color too

ralph - it was getting a bit gray that day, wind was picking up and all, how cool that you can see that!

linda - they are illuminated at night by 2 spotlights plus the police station has lights across the roof that shine on them

bobbie - I love the sound they make in the wind :)

bermuda - I hope your travels were good!! welcome back :)

gallery - thanks :)

magiceye - thanks :)

rambling - that's what I thought - a bird with a long neck

tisha - I played with the warmth and sharpness, I wanted to bring out the branches and the color kept changing too ;)
ahhhh the power to change the sky!

Wow cool pictures. I love all the flags. That is cool how you cropped out the tree in the second picture I didn't know you could do that.

The sky looks great.

Both are wonderful shots. I think I like the second one best and am reminded how 'cropping' can create interesting effects ... something I plan to keep in mind. Thanks for visiting each of my blogs while I was away from home yesterday.
Hugs and blessings,
