Ruby Tuesday: Boredom by the Dashboard Light

I was in Brooklyn with my son a few weeks ago and I had to stay in his truck while he went to do an errand. There is no where to park in Bay Ridge and the Traffic Cops are everywhere so I had to be ready to make a getaway.

I started taking pictures of the dashboard. Only one came out clear ...

But this is the one I like ...

Hi Dianne, you son has a nice truck. We don't have cars with a GPS.
In fact, I got a letter offering me $4500 Clunker Money for my pride and joy, my black Mustang convertible (search 'Mustang' on my blog).
Happy RT,
..
Oh yes, I have three Model T's on my blog for RT.

Great shots! I love the second particularly. Sometimes our best shots are accidents.

Ooooh, how did you do that? A little out of world look. Looks like a brain sucking ray from outer space. Ya OK??

Oh the dashboard doubles as a disco club light .. kewl!

I'm impressed that you had your camera with you. GOOD girl! You never know when you might capture a great shot like your second one. Nicely done!

That is such a cool photo of the red lights. Really good for RT.

The view is almost heavenly, the lights emanating from the usual (dashboard instruments) and ordinary. This has a feeling of something like the Close Encounters, like something of style in space that is beckoning. Excellent!

Neat photo you captured, Dianne. The motion makes the deep pink lights look like something out of science fiction, like Arkansas Patti commented.

Gamma rays or something like that!

I see from the ram logo your son drives a Dodge.

Happy Ruby Tuesday!

Wow, I've had a GPS on my cellphone for a year, and I still don't know how to use it.
And I never had a driver's license.
But I have a husband with a built in GPS and who's also always willing to drive if I'm asking. So arre my clan of girl-friends. Am I being blessed? Yes.
I must pull my self together and take more control over life's little things. Your post is a clear reminder. What would we do if I had to watch the car?
I'd probably had to do the nightly errand instead.
Doesn't sound tempting.
I love the red light-beams from your dashboard.
Did you use a prolonged exposure time ?
So cool.

I like the second pic best, too -- but I like your title best of all. Except now Meatloaf is singing in my head and he'll probably be there all day!

Wow! There are aliens coming out of your speedometer! Fun!

That bottom shot is actually quite amazing... HOW did that happen?

I'm totally on board with the consensus, that second shot stole the show. As an amateur nature photographer, I generally set up my shots and seldom get lucky like that.

Very cool!

A blazing dashboard—
or is this an optical
illusion of sorts?

THANKS EVERYBODY!

I was playing around with the camera's manual controls in the second shot - I was in such a small space and it was so dark
I have no idea what I did to capture the image LOL
it was just a nice surprise
which is what I love about photography

Quilly - I have had that song in my head too!!!!
sorry ;)

Woah, love that second one! It looks like the Mother Ship is beaming up your car.

Yes, I really like that second one. It's the effects that come sort of accidentally that are sometimes the best.

Hi Dianne, thanks for visiting my Ruby Tuesday. That second shot is just awesome, I love it. Surprise captures like that are wonderful. I think I have some like this from crossing a bridge at night at the start of the year. :)
